Until 1898 most rulers of Anhalt-Dessau had been interred in St Mary’s (or the Palace Church). The church had been badly damaged during the Second World War and the tombs despoiled shortly after the war. None of them have been preserved. The mortal remains of the princely family were reburied in the Berenhorst crypt on Cemetery I in Dessau.

Died in 1918 at Berchtesgaden.

Buried in Mauoleum in the Georgengarten at Dessau. After WW2 reburied on the cemetery in Dessau-Ziebigk.

His former wife Princess Louise of Saxe-Altenburg was buried in the ducal burial ground at Trockenborn-Wolfersdorf.

Married secondly in 1929 at Dessau Editha Marwitz (*1905 Düsseldorf,+1986 Garmisch-Partenkirchen).

Deposed in 1918.

Died in 1947 at Buchenwald concentration camp and was buried there (no tomb).
