1815-1840: WILLIAM I (Guillaume I; King of the Netherlands)

Born in 1772 in The Hague.

Father: William V, Prince of Orange.

Mother: Princess Wilhelmina of Prussia.

Married firstly in 1791 in Berlin Princess WILHELMINA of Prussia (*1774 Potsdam,+1837 The Hague).

Married secondly in 1841 in Berlin Countess Henriette d'Oultremont (*1792 Maastricht,+1864 Castle Rahe).

He was never crowned.

His issue who reigned:

WILLIAM II (*1792,+1849; son of Wilhelmina).

Abdicated in 1840 and left for Prussia.

Died in 1843 in Berlin.

Buried with his consort Grand Duchess Wilhelmina in the New Church in Delft.

 

1840-1849: WILLIAM II (Guillaume II; King of the Netherlands)

Born in 1792 in The Hague.

Father: King William I of the Netherlands.

Mother: Queen Wilhelmina of Prussia.

Married in 1816 in St Petersburg Grand Duchess ANNA of Russia (*1795 St Petersburg,+1865 The Hague).

He was never crowned.

His issue who reigned:

-WILLIAM III (*1817,+1890),

-Sophia (*1824,+1897; Grand Duchess of Saxe-Weimar).

Died in 1849 in Het Loo, Apeldoorn.

Buried with his consort Grand Duchess Anna in the New Church in Delft.

 

1849-1890: WILLIAM III (Guillaume III; King of the Netherlands)

Born in 1817 in Brussels.

Father: King William II of the Netherlands.

Mother: Queen Anna of Russia.

Married firstly in 1839 in Stuttgart Princess SOPHIA of Württemberg (*1818 Stuttgart,+1877 The Hague).

Married secondly in 1879 in Arolsen Princess EMMA of Waldeck-Pyrmont (*1858 Arolsen,+1934 The Hague).

He was never crowned.

His issue who reigned:

Wilhemina (*1880,+1962, daughter of Emma; Queen of the Netherlands).

Died in 1890 in Het Loo, Apeldoorn.

Buried with his two consorts in the New Church in Delft.

 

 

HOUSE OF NASSAU-LUXEMBOURG

1890-1905: ADOLPHUS (Adolphe; Duke of Nassau)

Born in 1817 in Biebrich.

Father: Duke William of Nassau.

Mother: Duchess Louise of Saxe-Hildburghausen.

He was reigning Duke of Nassau deposed in 1866 when Nassau was annexed to Prussia.

Married firstly in 1844 in St Petersburg Grand Duchess Elizabeth of Russia (*1826 Moscow,+1845 Wiesbaden).

Married secondly in 1851 in Dessau Princess ADELAIDE MARIE of Anhalt-Dessau (*1833 Dessau,+1916 Castle Königstein, Taunus).

His issue who reigned:

-WILLIAM IV (*1852,+1912; son of Adelaide Marie),

-Hilda (*1864,+1952; Grand Duchess of Baden; daughter of Adelaide Marie).

Died in 1905 at Castle Hohenburg, Bavaria.

Buried with his second consort Grand Duchess Adelaide Marie at the Castle Church in Weilburg an der Lahn, Germany.

 

1905-1912: WILLIAM IV (Guillaume IV)

Born in 1852 in Biebrich.

Father: Duke Adolphus of Nassau, Grand Duke of Luxembourg.

Mother: Grand Duchess Adelaide Marie of Anhalt-Dessau.

Married in 1893 at Fischhorn Castle near Zell am See Princess MARIA ANNA of Portugal (*1861 Brönnbach Castle,+1942 New York, USA).

His issue who reigned:

-MARIE ADELAIDE (*1894,+1924),

-CHARLOTTE (*1896,+1985).

Died in 1912 at Berg Castle, Luxembourg.

Buried at the Castle Church in Weilburg an der Lahn, Germany.

His consort Grand Duchess Maria Anna was buried in Luxembourg Cathedral.

 

1912-1919: MARIE ADELAIDE

Born in 1894 at Berg Castle, Luxembourg.

Father: Grand Duke William IV of Luxembourg. Mother: Grand Duchess Maria Anna of Portugal.

Unmarried.

Abdicated in 1919 in Luxembourg and left for Modena, Italy.

Died in 1924 at Hohenburg Castle, Bavaria.

Buried in Luxembourg Cathedral.

 

1919-1964: CHARLOTTE

Born in 1896 at Berg Castle, Luxembourg.

Father: Grand Duke William IV of Luxembourg. Mother: Grand Duchess Maria Anna of Portugal.

Married in 1919 in Luxembourg Prince FELIX of Bourbon-Parma (*1893 Schwarzau am Steinfelde,

+1970 Fischbach Castle, Luxembourg).

Her issue who reigned: JOHN (*1921).

Exiled during German occupation 1940-1945 in Great Britain.

Abdicated in 1964 in Luxembourg in favour of her son John.

Died in 1985 at Fischbach Castle, Luxembourg.

Buried with her consort Grand Duke Felix in Luxembourg Cathedral.

 

1964-2000: JOHN (Jean)

Born in 1921 at Berg Castle, Luxembourg.

Father: Grand Duke Felix of Bourbon-Parma. Mother: Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg.

Married in 1953 in Luxembourg Princess JOSEPHINE CHARLOTTE of Belgium (*1927 Brussels,+2005 Fischbach Castle, Luxembourg).

His issue who reigned: HENRY (*1955).

Abdicated in 2000 in Luxembourg in favour of his son Henry.

His consort Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte was buried in Luxembourg Cathedral.

Born in 1955 at Betzdorf Castle, Luxembourg.

Father: Grand Duke John of Luxembourg.

Mother: Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte of Belgium.

Married in 1981 in Luxembourg MARIA TERESA Mestre y Batista (*1956 Havana).

Issue of marriage: Guillaume (*1981); Félix (*1984); Louis (*1986); Alexandra (*1991); Sébastien (*1992).
